Frequently Asked Questions

Is psilocybin legal?

Psilocybin is decriminalized in Oregon, yet remains a federally illegal schedule 1 controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act. In 2020, Oregon voters passed ballot Measure 109 (codified under ORS 475A) legalizing the use of psilocybin with a state-licensed facilitator. Legal sessions must take place within a state-licensed service center and must use psilocybin from a state-licensed grower.

I fully comply with Oregon law and provide legal, guided psilocybin experiences regulated by the Oregon Health Authority.

Who can use psilocybin?

In Oregon anyone 21 years of age or over can obtain psilocybin services for any reason. No diagnosis or prescription is needed. Clients must, however, participate in a preparation session with a state-licensed psilocybin facilitator before consuming state-regulated psilocybin products in a state-licensed service center.

What are your rates?

Costs vary depending on what type of support is needed. I charge $100/hr for stand-alone coaching and integration sessions, while facilitated session costs vary based on dose, time, and service center fees.

To better serve marginalized communities and increase access to psychedelic services, I offer a sliding scale for members of marginalized groups. Please contact me for details.

Do you take insurance?

Psilocybin services are not currently recognized or covered by insurance companies.

How many sessions will I need?

The ideal number of psilocybin sessions varies from person to person and depends on dose, intentions, goals, and how much you have integrated previous experiences.

What if I have a bad trip?

In psychedelic circles you may hear the phrase “there is no such thing as a bad trip.” I disagree. Negative and traumatic experiences can occur under some circumstances. Your mindset going into an experience and the location of the experience can greatly influence outcomes. These factors are commonly called “set and setting.” Negative experiences may also occur with improper preparation and dosing, when dosed without consent, and also without reason.

I take a trauma-informed harm reduction approach and work with you to create a safe emotional setting, prepare for the range of possibilities, optimize your dose, and establish strategies to support challenges as they arise. In the experience, I work to support you in moving through challenges with the use of therapeutic techniques, deescalation, sensory awareness, music, and other tools.

Still, sometimes (but not always) challenging experiences can lead to exceptional emotional breakthroughs. I help clients integrate challenging and traumatic experiences with particular care and sensitivity. Finding community in integration groups may also help you integrate a challenging experience.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life happens. I request 48 hours notice to cancel both individual and group sessions. Canceling with less time will result in a fee of 50% of the full session price, with the exception of a real illness or emergency. I honor your time and trust you will honor mine.
